Book Pumas 2025Welcome to Punta Arenas, the gateway to Patagonia and the start of our incredible wildlife photography adventure. Upon arrival, you’ll be transported to our comfortable hotel, nestled in the heart of this vibrant port city. Take some time to settle in and unwind after your journey, soaking in the breathtaking views of the Magellan Strait. In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner, where you’ll meet your fellow photographers and guides, and discuss the exciting days ahead as we prepare to explore the stunning landscapes and elusive wildlife of this remarkable region.
After a hearty breakfast in Punta Arenas, we begin our scenic journey to the majestic Cerro Castillo, where we’ll spend the next few days immersed in the pristine wilderness. As we drive through the Patagonian landscape, keep your cameras ready—this route offers incredible photographic opportunities with its rugged mountains, windswept plains, and glimpses of local wildlife. Upon arrival at our cozy lodge, nestled in the shadow of Cerro Castillo’s dramatic peaks, we’ll settle in and enjoy a leisurely afternoon, preparing for the adventures that await. In the evening, we’ll gather for a briefing on the upcoming days, followed by a warm, locally-inspired dinner.
Prepare for four exhilarating days dedicated entirely to photographing the elusive puma in its natural habitat. Each day begins before dawn, as we venture out into the wild landscapes of Torres del Paine, guided by experienced trackers who know the terrain and the habits of these magnificent big cats. From the first light of day until the sun sets behind the jagged peaks, you’ll be immersed in the thrill of the chase, capturing intimate moments of pumas as they move through their rugged environment.
Our full-day excursions will take us deep into the heart of puma territory, offering unparalleled opportunities to observe and photograph these solitary predators in action. Whether stalking prey, resting in the shade, or roaming the vast Patagonian wilderness, each encounter with a puma is a chance to create stunning, once-in-a-lifetime images.
We’ll break for packed lunches in the field, maximizing our time in this untamed landscape, and as dusk falls, we’ll return to our lodge, where you can relax, review your shots, and share stories of the day’s adventures over a hearty dinner.
These days are all about connecting with nature, sharpening your photography skills, and experiencing the raw beauty of Patagonia’s wildest inhabitants.
On our final day in the Patagonian wilderness, we begin the journey back to Punta Arenas. As we retrace our route through the stunning landscapes, the journey will be anything but ordinary. Keep your cameras ready, as this region is home to an array of fascinating bird species. Along the way, we’ll have opportunities to photograph majestic Andean condors soaring high above the cliffs, buzzard eagles perched on rocky outcrops, and the charismatic caracaras on the hunt.
We’ll also keep an eye out for the flightless ñandús grazing in the open plains and, if we’re lucky, some of the region’s elusive owls nestled in the trees. These final photographic opportunities will allow you to capture the diverse avian life that thrives in Patagonia, rounding out your portfolio with some incredible bird shots.
Upon arrival in Punta Arenas, we’ll check back into our hotel and gather for a farewell dinner, where we’ll reflect on the unforgettable experiences of the past week and share our favorite moments and images from this extraordinary adventure.
As our incredible Patagonian adventure comes to an end, we’ll enjoy a relaxed morning at the hotel, taking in the last views of Punta Arenas. After breakfast, you’ll have some time to pack up and prepare for the journey home. Our team will arrange your transfer to the airport, where we’ll bid you a fond farewell.
As you head back with your memories and stunning photographs, we hope this experience has deepened your connection to nature and ignited a lasting passion for wildlife photography. Until we meet again on another adventure, safe travels!

- The workshop is intended for photographers of all levels. To get the most out of it, it is important to have a knowledge and handling of the basic concepts of manual photography, such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO and focal range.
- If you’d like to take home a couple of souvenirs, we recommend bringing a little extra cash in order to acquire these at the different locations we will be staying at (Local currency is the Chilean peso)

- Standard lens for general photography. Especially required for landscape photography. Focal lengths between 18-50mm or 24-70mm are recommended.
- Telephoto lens for wildlife photography (optional). Recommended focal lengths are 100-400mm, 150-600mm, 200-500mm, 200-600mm, or fixed lenses such as 400mm F2.8, 500mm F4 or 600mm F4.

Patagonia is famous for its variable climate of cold and wind, it is important to wear very warm clothing. On many occasions the weather can be less than 0 degrees.The rooms will have heaters at all times, and in the car as well.
It is important to bring first and second layer, warm gloves, knit cap, coats for the cold and waterproof jacket.

The reservation deposit is non-refundable. We will not reserve camps without the reservation deposit.
Cost per Single Room: $560 USD If you wish to reserve a room just for yourself without having to share with another person on the expedition.
2500 USD must be paid before February 13, 2025.

Reservation Deposit:
The reservation deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to another workshop.It should be made as soon as possible to secure the place in the expedition.
It can be made in two parts: one to reserve the place and the second one month later to complete it.If the total amount of the deposit is not completed in the stipulated time, the place will be released and the deposited amount will be forfeited.
Places will not be reserved without a deposit.
First Partial Payment: Before February 13, 2025.
Final Payment: By June 13, 2025.
No one wants to miss the trip! However, if you need to cancel your participation, refunds will be handled as follows:
The reservation deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable to another workshop.
If cancelled before March 2, 2025: 100% of the amount paid to date will be refunded, except for the reservation deposit.
If cancelled between February 13 and June 13: 50% of the amount paid to date will be refunded, except for the reservation deposit.
If cancelled after June 13, 2025: no refunds will be made.
If you wish to cancel and get all your money back, including the reservation deposit, you must find someone to take your place in the expedition.
In the event of a force majeure inconvenience, such as adverse weather conditions, mechanical problems, accidents or illness, and the workshop cannot take place, PhotoLior will negotiate directly with the participants to coordinate a replacement..
Accidents:
1.A. PhotoLior is not responsible for participants' accidents and will not cover medical expenses in case they are necessary. During the workshop, each participant is responsible for his/her safety and physical integrity.
1.B. PhotoLior is not responsible for accidents or loss of photographic equipment during the workshop. Each participant is responsible for his or her photographic equipment.
Punctuality: 2.
2.A. The workshop starts on the determined date and in a timely manner. All participants must be at the location established for the starting day of the workshop. In case of delays due to inconveniences, the participant must contact a PhotoLior representative as soon as possible. 3.
Respect:
3.A. Respect and patience are essential for a successful workshop. Participants may have varying levels of knowledge of the subject matter, so patience is required when explaining topics they have already mastered. Each participant's area of photography must be respected. Disrespect towards other members of the workshop or staff will not be allowed.
Climate:
4.A. The tour and its itinerary are weather dependent and may change at any time. We will always keep an eye out for the best weather conditions to determine where to go and optimize your photography.
